Gabi Kohn

A light-hearted young Jewish girl with many friends, Gabi is secure in the love of her family. When the Nazis invade her country, her world is turned upside down and she must cope with the loss of important friendships as well as with harassment by members of her own community.

The Kos Family

A non-Jewish family who are forced to quit working on the Kohn farm after the Nazis announce that gentiles (non Jews) are forbidden to work for Jewish businesses or families. Stephen and Maria Kos risk their lives to offer shelter to Gabi and her mother when they must flee after the situation becomes too dangerous for them to stay in their home.
